What role does computer education have in a child's development?

Computer education can give children a head start in their learning as they learn to use the computer at an early age. The early exposure to computers helps children to be comfortable and confident in their exploration and development of computer skills and knowledge.

With the MAXPLORER IT programme, children love the exciting lessons and themes, the captivating graphics and challenging activities. In the MAXPLORER classroom, learning is spread across the physical, intellectual, emotional and social aspects of the child's development.

PHYSICAL

Children learn how to type letters and numbers on the keyboard and slowly familiarize themselves with the symbols on the keyboard. They also learn to use the mouse to move the cursor around the computer screen to click, drag and access various functions. These exercises focus on the development of the children's fine motor skills by increasing the flexibility and strength in their hand and wrist movements as well as develop their eye-hand co-ordination.

INTELLECTUAL

MAXPLORER has a wide variety of themes that are tailored to support the curriculum of any kindergarten or childcare centre. These themes are designed to help reinforce learning that had already taken place in the classroom. Children enjoy activities that are exciting and challenging. MAXPLORER lessons allow children to learn at their own pace and focus on helping children to develop thinking and problem solving skills.

Digital Art programmes give children the opportunity to explore their creative side through a variety of digital craft projects such as digital paintings, paper puppets, greeting cards and even hanging mobiles.

EMOTIONAL

Through their interactions with the children, the teachers help to develop the children's confidence and self-esteem through the use of praises and positive feedback. The low teacher-child ratio also allows the children to have the added advantage of more individual attention and close supervision from the teachers.

SOCIAL

Children are given the opportunity to interact with each other during class time. The computer area is set up to allow an extra seat around a single computer. In this way students can pair up and work on various activities and lessons together. Through working together, they build up important social skills like sharing, listening and empathy. They would also learn how to be patient and polite with each other, learning to take turns when using the computer.
